About

I am Rosina Roibal, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Berkeley, California. I identify as a cis-gendered queer woman and bi-racial (Chicana and white). I am a single mother. I have a lived experience of complex trauma, addiction,  and as a sensitive creative who feels stuck, overwhelmed, and alone... paralyzed by perfectionism, inner criticism, and fear. I believe that my lived experience is powerful because my own struggle and healing can benefit others.

I have practiced as a psychotherapist since 2016 and became licensed in 2019. I received my master's degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco in the Expressive Arts Therapy program. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults individually, as conjoint/couples, families, and groups.

What led me to become a therapist...

I did not originally plan to become a therapist when I applied to the CIIS Expressive Arts Therapy program. At the time, I was seeking deeper training and tools for community-based social justice, healing, and arts work. I have always held two primary passions: the arts and social justice. I was a professional violist, a public orchestra teacher, and a community organizer. Eventually, I had the opportunity to merge these two paths when I became an arts and culture organizer for a nonprofit organization. There, I experienced firsthand the powerful intersection of social change and the arts.

Along the way, I discovered my love for therapeutic work-especially individual work with clients-healing complex, intergenerational, and racial trauma through creativity and the expressive arts.

And, I believe that mental wellness is an act of resistance.
